Comments on Cord Compression

Theodore W.

I recently had a case that looked to me like an mca stroke with unilateral weakness but the neurology consult was able to localize to cervical cord compression by eliciting a careful sensory exam and also bilateral hoffman's sign (easily found on youtube). The compression came from disc herniation, not trauma. I thought it was a great learning point that cord compression can happen anywhere even w/o hx of neck trauma.
