Bell's Palsy Facial Droop

Sign in or subscribe to watch the video.

Examination of a patient with Bell's Palsy shows a facial droop that includes the forehead. Lower motor neuron lesions (such as Bell's palsy) involve the frontalis muscle of the forehead, whereas upper motor neuron lesions (such as strokes) spare the forehead. Only motor is affected since this is a neuropathy of CN VII. Sensation (CN V) should be unaffected.
