It is important to be cautious if the patient has COPD or asthma. Betaxalol is sometimes used by ophthalmologists if the patient has severe asthma or COPD. Also, if using as a one-time use in setting of acute angle closure and not chronically, timolol is *usually* ok. It's kind of a grey area.
