We've been doing this in all of Sweden for almost 10 years now. The surgeons in my old hospital in Västerås have done a few studies on it and they were the drivers of the change. They ususally don't need close follow up either so it's not a problem. If they get worse they come back to the ED but not many do and are instead followed up in a few weeks.
