For anyone who's watching this and was remembering the Step 1 diagrams thinking "why don't you also test the middle finger and thumb for median nerve?", I asked my ortho friend (anatomy nerd) and she said for hand sensation all you need to test is:
-dorsal/web space of thumb (radial nerve)
-radial border of index finger (median nerve)
-ulnar border of pinky (ulnar nerve)

Reason being that things like volar middle finger could have innervation from ulnar in some folks, etc.

Matt P. -

Sorry, wasn't being contradictory, radial or volar tip of index finger for median nerve

Good pointers! Thanks, Matt!
