The physical exam findings of a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can mimic cellulitis. Typical findings include swelling (in this case pitting edema), erythema, warmth, and tenderness. Ultrasound in this patient showed a noncompressible common femoral vein, which confirmed the diagnosis.
