Not sure how much clinical utility I see here. I mean I think it is a great research tool to figure out what the optimal ways to denitrogenate are, but I feel like I don’t see many people who are failing to denitrogenate who are sitting there with good sats. If your using optimal techniques, the simple solution is to give it a little longer than you expect you might need to, and research can dictate how long is long enough in this scenario. I don’t need an expensive new toy at the bedside to do that. More commonly, you have the patient who you are struggling to get their sats up/maintain, and the solution there is also to wait as long as you can. But likely the same processes that are keeping them from oxygenating well and exchanging gases are going to be what is impairing your ventilation and washout. I don’t think I need another meter to tell me that, and another thing to pay attention to

Since we want to know how much we denitrogenated the patient I just wonder why not measure the extidal N2 instead of O2 ?

Robert A. A., M.D. -

I'm confused -- does this measure a percentage? this tells us the percentage of oxygen in an expired breath (i.e., the highest it could be is 100?)

End-tidal C02 gives a measurement in mmHg, correct?

So, end-tidal C02 and end-tidal 02 use different scales?
