Drs. Herbert and Swadron walk us through the findings of CHF on CXR, with commentary by Dr. Jess Mason and Dr. Jessie Werner. There are three major stages to keep in mind for CHF on CXR: Stage 1 is “Redistribution” with key findings of pulmonary vascular redistribution and cardiomegaly. Stage 2 is “Interstitial Edema” with Kerley lines, peribronchial cuffing, hazy contour of vessels and thick interlobar fissures. Stage 3 is “Alveolar Edema” where you may notice airspace infiltrates, air bronchograms and pleural effusions. This image review ties in with our upcoming C3 episode on CHF (June 2018).
