I asked our pharmacist and here a banana bag is $530. Personally I wouldn't consider that inexpensive. An oral multivitamin with minerals is a bit less.
I remember having drilled into me during medical school that if you didn't give thiamine to alcoholics before giving them glucose, they were going to immediately Wernicke's encephalopathy and die, but you didn't even mention thiamine in your description of the initial resuscitation. Does this mean that what I learned is not only overstated, but incorrect? I guess I'd better get used to the feeling. . .
