Al Sacchetti demonstrates a technique for placing an IV in a patient with loose skin to prevent it from moving. Simply pull gentle traction in the opposition direction of the needle trajectory. Once placed, movement will only cause the catheter to advance further into the vessel rather than being dislodged.
