How are you guys use the high sensitivity ESR? Is it like a d dimer, if negative, it rules out pericarditis?

Excellent discussion. Regarding wether or not to get a Troponin in evaluation of these patients I always do for one reason.
To help diagnose myocarditis which was eluded to in the discussion. However the most important reason is that NSAID's are CONTRAINDICATED in myocarditis. If you missed a case of myocarditis and wrongly treated presumed pericarditis with NSAID'S that would be bad.
