"I'm going to give you a little advice. There's a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball."- Ty Webb
Darren & Rich, this segment was awesome! You have my gratitude.
It's kind of funny to me to imagine Rich STEPping UP during a tough airway. I'm sure this isn't what he says to himself, but it ought to be: "I'm going to nail this, because I'm effing Rich Levitan!"
This was fantastic. EM needs more of this education, so thank you for bring this. It has always amazed me that professional sports people are experts at mental imagery and positive self-talk, and yet this is not taught in medical school or residency, where the job outcomes clearly have much more at stake than whether a ball goes in a hole or not. It is time for this material to be brought to the core curriculum.
Thanks for the positive feedback. I'm glad others found this as useful as I did. This is clearly an area that needs more attention in our business. I'll be sure to incorporate this into my self-talk before walking in to record my next segment!
