Hindsight is 20/20 so OBVIOUSLY you shouldn’t remove the hippocampus and amygdala to stop epileptic seizures! Why? Because that’s where you turn short term memories into long term memories. Of course we wouldn’t know that if someone hadn’t done that to Henry Molaison back in 1957. Here’s how a really bad brain surgery idea led to some great ideas in memory research.
