My understanding of the Captain Morgan technique from one of Dr. Hendey's lectures was that it primarily involved plantar flexion of the provider's tucked foot, explicitly intending to avoid excessive flexion at the knee to avoid injury there. This is usually what puts our orthopedists off!

it helps to internally rotate femer before you flex knee to disengage femoral head from behind pelvis
