Any instructions I've seen on how to administer benzonatate say to swallow the capsules whole, NOT to suck on or chew.

Hi Maureen, Thanks for the comment and pointing out. You are correct. This should be taken whole not chewed or sucked. For the reasons we discussed this is a medication we do not be used at all.
